Librarian

Librarians support the teaching and learning objectives of the college through the effective delivery of Library & Learning Centre Services to students and faculty. They plan and deliver information literacy skills instruction, provide reference services, assist in the development of collections and facilities, and may supervise the work of other library staff.

Requirements:

* Graduate or post-graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution (or equivalent)
* Minimum 3 years professional librarian experience, preferably in an educational setting
* High level of computer literacy and strong information technology skills and experience in the use of integrated library systems
* Experience in international or multi-cultural settings and working with second language learners is desirable
* Excellent oral and written English language communication skills
* Teaching qualifications / EFL Teaching experience are highly desirable

Librarian – Technical Services

The Librarian reports to the Supervisor of Learning Resource Services and works closely with other members of the LRS team. This new position has been created to assist with the increasing demand for centralized library services provided to the sixteen colleges of the HCT. The Librarian will assist the Acquisitions Librarian with ordering, processing and tracking, receiving, invoicing, and maintaining fund expenditures and statistics. Depending upon specific need, skills, and interests, the successful candidate will also assist in one or more of the following areas: original cataloging, authority control, managing electronic resources, database maintenance and Millennium circulation processes. As a member of the LRS team, the position assists in the development and review of procedures and workflows for technical services operations, provides input in the adoption of new technologies, and conducts training to library staff in the use of Millennium.

Requirements:

* Graduate or post-graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution, or equivalent
* Preferred two years experience in one or more areas of the following Library Technical/Public Service areas: Acquisitions, Circulation, Cataloging
* Knowledge of current standards, practics and trends in Technical Services
* Experience with integrated library systems (preferably Innovative`s Millennium)
* Excellent interpersonal skills; Excellent oral and written English communication skills
* High level of computer literacy and strong information technology skills
* Possess a strong services orientation
* Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and teams; Ability to multitask and manage detail
* Ability to display imagination, ingenuity, and humor in solving problems and in mentoring and working with people
