CHIEF LIBRARIAN

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC), a 1,000-bed hospital located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, flexible, and service-oriented librarian for the position of Chief Librarian. KFSH&RC is the premier tertiary care academic institution in Saudi Arabia and its Health Sciences Library is the largest and most advanced in the Middle East region. The Chief Librarian is supported by a library team that includes a Senior Clinical Librarian, 2 Clinical Librarians, 3 Library Assistants and 3 Shelver/photocopy clerks. The Chief Librarian is responsible for managing library services, introducing new programs, training library staff, and putting the library at the cutting edge. The library maintains a wide range of library materials including 20,000 books, print journals, major medical databases (full package of OVID, ScienceDirect, Blackwell, ProQuest, EBSCOhost) featuring more than 6,000 full-text journals and many other electronic resources.
Requirements: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited school of library science. Five years experience in a supervisory capacity, including 2 years in medical librarianship; extensive experience in information technology and collection development; excellent written and oral English, communications skills and computer skills.
Benefits:
Annual salary: $62,000 (tax-free)
Paid leave days: total of 54 days yearly

for married contract)
Severance pay: 15 days pay each year for first four years; one month pay for each
succeeding year (given at end of service)
