Description:
The American University of Sharjah Library seeks an enthusiastic and creative librarian to join its service oriented team as the Information Literacy Librarian. The IL librarian is responsible for the design, delivery and assessment of the university’s course-integrated information literacy program and collaborates with librarians and faculty to infuse information literacy skills and concepts into the curriculum. The incumbent will develop online instructional tools to further the library’s teaching and learning goals. Other responsibilities include providing reference assistance and working with faculty in assigned liaison areas.
Required: ALA accredited MLS, ideally with 3 years of instruction and reference experience; demonstrated teaching ability and strong commitment to student learning; knowledge of information literacy standards and effective pedagogies; commitment to working in a culturally diverse learning environment. Strong service orientation, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work collegially and effectively with others. Preferred: experience creating web-based instructional tools, Camtasia modules, online tutorials, etc.
Salary and Benefits
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes additional month’s salary per year. The American University of Sharjah is located in the United Arab Emirates and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Established in 1997, the university consists of four Schools and Colleges: Architecture and Design, Business and Management, Engineering, and Arts and Sciences and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees to 4,900 students from 80 different countries. The language of instruction and the workplace is English, and knowledge of Arabic is not required.
