Hong Kong

A global financial services firm is seeking an experienced and proactive Information Specialist to join a team of experienced information professionals in Hong Kong to provide value-added reference and research services to support the business objectives of the organization.

THE POSITION:
• Develop appropriate research strategy and prioritize multiple projects
• Identify, and select appropriate information products on companies, markets, financial, insurance and business research
• Aggregate content from a variety of sources and synthesize information to create customized research deliverables for short-term and in-depth projects
• Provide project monitoring and research support to information specialists – focus on research quality: thoroughness, accuracy, clarity
• Attend internal client meetings as necessary
• Develop specialized research and reference skills through ongoing training, professional
association meetings and seminars
• Participate in information product evaluation and collection development, provide feedback on new information tools, technology trends and applications
• Continually scan professional and business literature for new ideas within and beyond the
information services field

REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced degree (MLS or advanced diploma in Library Studies)
• Experience in a consulting, financial or other professional services firms
• Minimum 3 - 7 years with a demonstrated competency in conducting research inquiries using electronic and print resources
• Proficiency with major business databases, such as Factiva, Bloomberg, investment company research and ratings services
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Critical thinking/business analysis skills - ability to explain results and methodology clearly and precisely
• Strong commitment to customer service
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Fluency in English is required
• Japanese or Chinese language (Cantonese) proficiency preferred but not required
