INVITATION TO A LECTURE-FORUM
IMPLICATIONS OF R.A.9246: A Re-Visit in the Light of Contemporary Challenges

We are all aware that the approval of R.A.9246 on February 19, 2004 otherwise known as the Philippine Librarianship Act of 2003, repealed R.A. 6966; regulates the practice of librarianship and prescribes the qualifications of librarians. It follows therefore that this law would greatly influence librarianship, librarians and the curriculum.

It is for this reason that we need to know the ‘what, how and when’ of R.A. 9246. Expectantly, this lecture forum will address the various issues and concerns accruing with its implementation. We have invited persons of authority to give us detailed clarification: Mrs. Corazon M. Nera, the Chairperson of the Board for Librarians and Director for Libraries of the Lyceum University of the Philippines, will shed light on RA9246; and Atty. Antonio M. Santos, Head of the National Commission on Libraries and Information Services, National Committee for Culture and the Arts, will give the legal interpretation and address the various issues and concerns arising thereto.
