Position Summary:
We are currently have an experienced Information Researcher for its Asia-Pacific operations. The position is located in Penang (Malaysia) and will support operations by delivering solutions in the areas of business, market research, science, engineering and patents for the purpose of making informed business decisions, enhancing innovations, and understanding the competitive market
Responsibilities:
The Information Researcher will play a pivotal and proactive role in providing complex, in-depth and on-demand information and research services in order to enable research and development, support and enhance business decision-making processes and build on Agilent’s intellectual property. Determines and develops approaches to research information needs. Leads research projects requiring coordination with other functions, third parties. Solves a broad range of information requests of varying scope and complexity. In addition, the Information Researcher will participate in evaluating and implementing vendor products and services and in identifying and obtaining applicable standards documentation.
Qualifications:
• Background in complex information research. Desired but not required is an advanced degree in Library Science or a recognized international equivalent. A second advanced degree or certification in economics, business management, or other related discipline is also desirable.
Biliginual in English and in Penang Hokkien, Malay and/or Mandarin. Knowledge of additional East Asian languages desirable.
• Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience, including practical experience and demonstrated excellence of research skills as applied in fast-paced, corporate library environments
• Experience with at least 1 standard business tool (e.g., Dialog, Nexis, Factiva or Thomson) and with at least 1 standard science/engineering tool (e.g., Science Direct, Micropatent, IEEExlore, Web of Science)
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, and a second nature for detail
• Ability to prioritize multiple requests, and synthesize, package, and present research findings
• Skilled in evaluating and implementing vendor products and services
• Strong organizational, communication, presentation, training and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team and collaboratively across departments and international offices
