Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced librarians to work as part of the College Liaison/Information Services team, providing liaison and information services to academic staff and students at the Wellington Campus. This position covers the academic year (40 weeks) between February and November each year.

You will facilitate the provision of information services from the Information Desk, will provide instruction and consultancy services to staff and students, and will liaise with academic staff (esp. College of Sciences) to ensure that services and collections meet their needs and those of their students. You will also select both print and electronic items for the collections, which support the teaching, learning and research of the University.

Job Description
Purpose Statement To provide high quality information services to library clients, and liaise with academic
departments for the enhancement and development of services.
Responsible To Responsible to Campus Librarian, Wellington.
Key Accountability Areas MAJOR ACTIONS

Information Service
· Provide an information service from the Information Desk, respond to enquiries received by email, letter and telephone.
· Provide orientation and advice to students and new users.

Teaching and Research Support
· Provide an information literacy programme to meet campus needs, including individual research tutorials and group classes.

Library Guides and Publicity
· Assist in the development and production of paper and web-based material which guides and/or informs clients.

Collection Development
· Assist with the development and management of the Library’s collections by the
identification and appraisal of new resources, products and services, and through the
selection for purchase, deselection and organisation of materials.

Teamwork
· Contribute as a member of the Library team by participating in meetings, showing
initiative, sharing key tasks, and covering for other staff during peak times or during
absences.

Contribution to Management
· Monitoring activities and trends in the areas of responsibility through the analysis of data, assisting with budget preparation, and deputising for the Wellington Campus Librarian as necessary.

Liaison
· Liaise with staff in academic departments to promote Library services and enhance their development.

Other Duties
· Other activities as may be required to contribute to the successful operation of the
Library.
