The Learning Enhancement Centers (LEC) provide programs to encourage students’ independent learning and academic skill development. The LEC Coordinator works with the LEC Supervisor to develop and deliver services in the Learning Enhancement Centers.

The Responsibilities

* In coordination with the LEC Supervisor, creating a dynamic program of services that encourage interactive learning and student progress towards the achievement of the University’s learning outcomes.
* Overseeing the operation of the LEC on one campus, including maintenance of the collections and equipment, scheduling classes and special activities.
* Teaching and delivering services to students.
* Supervising one full-time staff member, selecting and training senior students in the peer tutoring program.
* Actively participating in the information literacy program, including teaching, preparation of materials and promoting basic information literacy for students using the LEC.
* Promoting awareness of the LEC’s services through regular contact with faculty and by developing promotional materials.
* Producing materials for use by students and faculty to support specific needs for independent learning.
* Recommending adaptive technology and equipment to support independent learners.
* Serving as library liaison to a designated academic unit, developing the library collection and electronic resources for that subject area and teaching classes.
* Participating actively in strategic planning, library-wide projects and in the smooth operation of the library.
* Serving on library and university committees.

The Requirements

* Master’s degree or Ph.D. in library science, or an appropriate field.
* A minimum of three years’ library and teaching experience in a Western or Western-style university.
