A member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), The WorldFish Center (also known as International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management or ICLARM) is an international scientific research organization conducting fisheries and aquaculture research in tropical developing countries. The global headquarters of the Center is in Penang, Malaysia with operations/offices in eleven countries. The Center is currently recruiting highly competent and motivated individual to fill the following position:

Junior Librarian
(Southern Tagalog - Los Baños,Laguna)

Responsibilities:

* Acquire, process, catalog/ classify publications required by WorldFish Center - Philippines projects ;

* Physically organize library facilities, resources, and systems to ensure accountability and efficiency of operations;

* Provide reference and information services to WorldFish Center staff (including from other WorldFish offices), liaise with the main WorldFish Library in Penang to optimize exchange and use of publications, and service national partners in the Philippines;

* Provide professional advice and guidance to WorldFish staff in the development of the bibliographic and information components of projects and databases;

* Utilize existing, and establish new, linkages and cooperation with local and international libraries as needed to service the needs of professional staff in the execution of projects;

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Library/Information Science or related field;
* Knowledge of current library principles and practices, methods and techniques including acquisitions, cataloguing, classification and general reference
* Good command of written and spoken English
* Positive attitude towards work
* Ability to work with minimum supervision
* Knowledge of electronic and traditional aquatic or agricultural information resources
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft PC operating systems and application software
* Fresh graduates/Entry level applicants are encouraged to apply.

The selected applicants will be hosted in The WorldFish Center - Philippine Office located at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Los Baños Laguna, as a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS). The WorldFish Center offers competitive remuneration package and provides an innovative work environment. The contract will be from 2 May 2007 – 31 December 2008.
