Visiting Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer
Library and Information Science

The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, invites expressions of interest for the position of Visiting Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in the field of Library and Information Science

Applicants are expected to have
+ a doctorate in the field of library and information science or a related field,
+ demonstrated ability of quality teaching, research and publishing,
+ a strong research background in one or more areas related to LIS, with an emphasis in any emerging field,
+ an excellent command of English.

The successful candidate will be able to
+ Teach selected LIS courses at the Masters level,
+ Initiate, lead and work with other faculty members in research projects,
+ Conduct short seminars, workshops and other continuing education programs in LIS
+ Report for work at the University of Malaya by 31 March 2007.

The successful candidate will be offered an initial appointment at the level of either Visiting Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer for up to 1 year. Subject to satisfactory performance, this position may be converted to a post of Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer for a contract of up to 3 years.

Remuneration package: The successful candidate can expect to receive a salary package commensurate with experience and rank. The monthly salary will be approximately
Lecturer RM 3,000 (approx. USD 850) per month
Senior Lecturer RM 5,000 (approx. USD 1,400) per month
Associate Professor RM 7,000 (approx. USD 1,900) per month
Professor RM 10,000 (approx. USD 2,800) per month
In addition, housing will be provided or a housing allowance will be paid.
