Webster University Thailand is a fully accredited American university and a branch campus of the Webster University World-wide System with campuses in the U.S. and Europe. The mother campus is based in St. Louis, MO. We are seeking highly qualified individuals for the position of LIBRARIAN/INSTRUCTOR for our Cha-am Campus.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- Master’s in Library Science
- Native English language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing), and ability to give extended presentations in English.
- University teaching experience preferred as some teaching may be required
- Good knowledge of database searching, and experience with a variety of databases, as well as the World Wide Web and search engines. Good knowledge of reference interviewing techniques and reference procedures. Coursework in reference and/or prior reference experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of cataloging (LC subject headings and classification).
The majority of the cataloging is done by copy cataloging procedures rather than original cataloging, but prior cataloging experience and/or coursework would be very helpful.
- Ability to supervise library assistants, and the ability to work in a Dynamic university environment with a highly diverse student body.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Must be able to relocate to Cha-am/Hua Hin area.
PREFERRED:
- Prior residence in Thailand or elsewhere in Asia. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Another master’s degree either in business or other subject areas.
- Teaching experience at the university level.
DUTIES OF THE LIBRARIAN
- To make and implement decisions to improve the library’s operations and services to students and faculty.
- To identify needs in the library’s print and video collection and make decisions regarding purchases.
- To provide bibliographic instruction to new and continuing students on how to use the Passports databases, tailoring presentations to individual classes as well as working with students in small groups or on an individual basis.
- To provide full reference services to students and faculty.
- To catalog books and other materials received by the library
- To supervise and direct the work of library assistants.
- To coordinate the purchase and sale of all course textbooks and readers.
- To provide occasional reports or presentations to the Thai Committee of Higher Education (”CHE”), as required.
- With the assistance of the IT Department, to modify, edit, and maintain the library’s Web pages.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Basic Salary of between 45,000 to 55,000 (Thai Baht)*
- Housing Allowance
- Thai health insurance provided.
- Work permit and visa extension services will be provided and paid for.
- Starting date in December or early January strongly preferred.
- Relocation and moving costs not provided.
- Employee is required to supply MLS and undergraduate transcripts as a condition of employment

I am Mr. Denan S. Cariño, a licensed librarian and a graduate of bachelor’s degree in education with specialization in library science. I also finished my master of arts in education with specialization in library science. Currently, I am pursuing doctor of education major in educational management. I have 5 years teaching experience in a college.
